What Is Microneedling?
If home skin care products are no longer effective, but you don't want surgery, learn more about nonsurgical skin rejuvenation procedures, like microneedling. Board-certified plastic surgeon and physician Dr. John F. Farella is happy to perform microneedling (collagen induction therapy) at his Mount Kisco, NY practice. Microneedling uses several fine needles to effectively and safely make micro-injuries in the needed areas of the skin. The micro-injuries trigger the body's natural production of elastin and collagen, two nutrients that enhance the overall health and appearance of your skin. Easily performed with other skin treatments, like vitamin serums or platelet-rich plasma (PRP), microneedling may help reduce pores, stretch marks, and scars. Make an appointment for a consultation at Farella MD Spa and Wellness Center in White Plains, NY to learn more about the benefits of microneedling and ways to customize the treatment for your skin needs and goals. Consultations and follow-up appointments are held at our White Plains, NY location, and all light and laser procedures and skin care treatments are performed at our Mount Kisco, NY practice.
How Does Microneedling Work?
Microneedling is completed in one of our procedure rooms in around 30 – 60 minutes with numbing cream or local anesthesia if preferred, but patients typically feel little or no discomfort. The areas of skin being addressed will be cleaned before the handpiece is passed evenly over. Once the microneedling is complete, a treatment, like PRP (platelet-rich plasma) or a vitamin-infused serum, can be applied so the nutrients can penetrate deeper into the skin. A moisturizer will be massaged in along with UV protection since your skin will be more sensitive following the treatment.
What Are the Benefits of Microneedling?
At Farella MD Spa and Wellness Center, we suggest microneedling for patients who would like a few different benefits:
- Improved feel and look of skin
- Low-risk, minimally invasive treatment selection
- Diminished look of wrinkles, fine lines, and signs of aging
- Treatment of scars, pigmentation issues, or stretch marks
Farella MD Spa and Wellness Center Reviews
I got lipo 360 from Dr. Farella in May. My experience as great and I look fantastic! I chose to get surgery here because he is board certified, has several years of experience, has a certified Operating room in his practice, and because he is located in NY. His CRNA followed up with me the following day of surgery and it was reassuring to know that I was being followed by a medical team. Dr. Farella was the first doctor that told me I didn’t need a tummy tuck. He got my waist from 32 in down to 27 in. If you live in the CT,NY, NJ area and considering cosmetic surgery, I would highly reccomend Dr. Farella.

Microneedling FAQ
How much does microneedling cost?
During your consultation, Dr. Farella will assess your skin and create a personalized treatment plan. After the evaluation, he'll provide a detailed breakdown of your costs and explain the process. Be sure to ask about any current discounts on treatment packages, as Farella MD Spa and Wellness Center often offers special deals.
Can I combine other treatments with microneedling?
Microneedling creates tiny channels in the skin, which can help other treatments penetrate deeper and work more effectively. Many patients pair microneedling with vitamin-rich serums or other growth factors to enhance their results. Dr. Farella can discuss the best complementary treatments during your consultation to support your skin's health and beauty.
How many treatments are recommended for optimal results?
Most patients find that 3 – 6 microneedling sessions give them the best results, although this can vary based on your skin's condition and your personal goals. Treatments are typically spaced 4 – 6 weeks apart to ensure safe and effective results. Once you've reached your desired results, Dr. Farella suggests touch-up sessions about twice a year to maintain your skin's rejuvenated appearance.
Is microneedling safe for everyone?
Microneedling is generally safe for most skin types and tones, as the micro-injuries are very small and side effects are minimal. It can be used on various areas, including the face, neck, chest, arms, and legs. However, if you've used Accutane recently, have open wounds, active skin infections, or herpes simplex, microneedling might not be suitable for you. Additionally, those who are pregnant, nursing, or undergoing radiation treatments should discuss their options with Dr. Farella before proceeding.
