What Is Laser Melasma Treatment?
Melasma occurs when uneven patches of dark skin appear on the face or forearms. These tan or brown patches usually occur symmetrically on the forehead, cheeks, nose, or upper lip. Melasma is a common condition often found in women and may be caused by sun damage or hormonal fluctuations, such as pregnancy and menopause. Our team at Farella MD Spa and Wellness Center treats melasma regularly utilizing the Cynosure PicoSure® laser, which emits high energy and a fast pulse rate to address several skin irregularities, such as brown patches, acne scars, sun spots, age spots, discoloration, unwanted tattoos, fine lines, and aging skin. PicoSure provides incredible results with fewer treatments, resulting in fewer side effects and reduced pain and discomfort. Contact our Mount Kisco or White Plains, NY practice to schedule an appointment to learn more about this advanced therapy and whether PicoSure is the right solution to address your needs.
How Does Laser Melasma Treatment Work?
Before your treatment begins, our expert laser aesthetic team may apply a topical numbing gel to minimize discomfort. Using a specialized PicoSure handpiece, we will pass the device over your skin to deliver the non-ablative light energy into melasmic patches, targeting pigmentation conditions or other general signs of aging. The laser will pass across the skin to address the treatment areas. Since the laser emits short bursts of energy, most patients only feel minimal discomfort. The light energy effectively diminishes pigmentation, which can be absorbed naturally by your body to reveal a brighter, more even skin tone. Typically, patients only need a few treatments; however, depending on the condition of your skin, several treatments may be required to achieve optimal results. Overall, the treatment typically takes between 5 – 20 minutes, and once you are finished, you will be able to leave and return to your regular routine.

Farella MD Spa and Wellness Center Reviews
I got lipo 360 from Dr. Farella in May. My experience as great and I look fantastic! I chose to get surgery here because he is board certified, has several years of experience, has a certified Operating room in his practice, and because he is located in NY. His CRNA followed up with me the following day of surgery and it was reassuring to know that I was being followed by a medical team. Dr. Farella was the first doctor that told me I didn’t need a tummy tuck. He got my waist from 32 in down to 27 in. If you live in the CT,NY, NJ area and considering cosmetic surgery, I would highly reccomend Dr. Farella.

Laser Melasma Treatment FAQs
How many laser treatments are typically needed to see results?
The number of sessions required depends on the severity of the melasma and individual skin response. To achieve optimal results, most patients require 3 to 6 treatments, spaced a few weeks apart. At your consultation, we will create a personalized treatment plan to meet your personalized needs.
Is laser melasma treatment permanent?
Laser melasma treatment can provide long-lasting results, but it does not guarantee permanent removal. Melasma can reoccur due to factors like hormonal changes, UV exposure, and genetics. Regular skincare, sun protection, and occasional maintenance treatments can help prolong the results.
Can I combine laser melasma treatment with other skincare treatments?
Yes, laser melasma treatment can be combined with other treatments like chemical peels or microneedling to enhance results. However, it's important to consult with your provider to determine the best combination of treatments for your skin type and condition.
