IPL in Mount Kisco, NY

If you are bothered by how your complexion appears because of dark spots or sun damage, Farella MD Spa and Wellness Center can offer you a skin analysis at our Mount Kisco or White Plains, NY practice to see if you qualify for intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy. A photofacial with IPL is a rejuvenating skin treatment for adult women and men with hyperpigmentation concerns on their neck and face. IPL may be a noninvasive process, but it can be very effective and produce amazing outcomes. Using the state-of-the-art technology of the Alma Harmony® XL PRO, board-certified plastic surgeon and physician Dr. John F. Farella sends intense pulses of light that heat skin cells, igniting the natural healing process and boosting collagen production. Over time, you should see a healthier complexion with a more even tone and fewer dark spots. Schedule a consultation with our team to learn more about IPL and its benefits. Consultations and follow-up appointments are held at our White Plains, NY location, and all light and laser procedures and skin care treatments are performed at our Mount Kisco, NY practice.

A photofacial is performed at our Mount Kisco, NY office in around 20 – 30 minutes in one of our minor procedure rooms if no other treatments are performed. To start the IPL facial, your technician will clean and dry the skin to be treated before covering your eyes with goggles for protection. Our expert team will administer the IPL treatment using Alma Harmony XL PRO, a handheld wand that emits pulses of light energy as it passes over the skin. While many patients will feel mild discomfort during the IPL photofacial, it is generally bearable given the short treatment time. Once your procedure is complete, we will get you out the door and back to your normal, everyday activities.

There is no recovery period associated with IPL therapy. You will leave our office with your skin looking a little swollen and pink. This will subside naturally in about a day, but you can also conceal it with makeup if you want. Farella MD Spa and Wellness Center recommends patients apply a cream on the skin's surface to decrease irritation and promote healing. It also helps to take an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication to help ease swelling. Over the next several days, the blemishes under the skin will come to the surface and then start to flake away. It is very important to keep your skin protected with sunscreen at all times after a photofacial and to not pick at the flaking skin. While you will see some visible results after the first session, your complexion will attain the best results with multiple IPL photofacial treatments. Dr. Farella recommends most patients get 3 – 6 sessions performed around once a month at our Mount Kisco, NY office.

IPL photofacials are sought-after at Farella MD Spa and Wellness Center for their transforming qualities. Some of the advantages that our Mount Kisco and White Plains, NY patients garner from their IPL photofacials include:

I got lipo 360 from Dr. Farella in May. My experience as great and I look fantastic! I chose to get surgery here because he is board certified, has several years of experience, has a certified Operating room in his practice, and because he is located in NY. His CRNA followed up with me the following day of surgery and it was reassuring to know that I was being followed by a medical team. Dr. Farella was the first doctor that told me I didn’t need a tummy tuck. He got my waist from 32 in  down to 27 in. If you live in the CT,NY, NJ area and considering cosmetic surgery, I would highly reccomend Dr. Farella.

Am I A Candidate for IPL?

A photofacial reaches the deeper layers of your skin to improve several complexion blemishes (particularly sun spots and brown lesions) with minimal or no recovery needed. Candidates for IPL at Farella MD Spa and Wellness Center may have many issues with their skin, such as sun damage, rosacea, brown spots (hyperpigmentation), rough texture, visible pores, redness, freckles, melasma, age, and sun spots, or dilated capillaries. During your initial consultation, Dr. Farella will examine your skin to see if you are a candidate for an IPL photofacial.

How much does IPL cost?

Your complexion issues are unique, which means the cost of your photofacial will vary based on your goals. Farella MD Spa and Wellness Center frequently offers promotional pricing, and we accept most payment methods. During your initial consultation, your technician can estimate costs and determine how many sessions are needed to match your goals.

How quick are the results from IPL?

Improvements can be seen following each treatment, but final results develop about one month after your last treatment. It is normal for patients to see different responses following each treatment session. Blotchiness, redness, and spots (age, brown, and sun) will fade.

What are the possible side effects of IPL?

Most patients experience mild side effects like temporary redness, swelling, bruising, blisters, or crusting. This should go away on its own within a day or two after the procedure. You will be extra sensitive to the sun, and damaging UV rays can negatively affect your results. You should also wear sunscreen to protect your skin and prevent problems like redness and spots.

Do I need to prep for IPL?

To prepare for an IPL treatment, patients are usually asked to avoid sun exposure and self-tanners for 2 – 4 weeks before their treatment. You might need to stop using certain medications and topical creams like Retin-A a few days before each treatment and may be asked to take ibuprofen or aspirin one week before your treatment to decrease your risk of bruising. You should also protect the treated areas with sunscreen since your skin will be extra sensitive.

Why should I get multiple IPL sessions?

We recommend getting a series of IPL to deliver gradual, natural-looking improvements to your skin. Each session helps to diminish surface irregularities and spots. Multiple sessions also produce longer-lasting results.

Even if you didn't think too much about your skin's health when you were a child, you now may be interested in treatments that fix your appearance. We encourage you to find out more about photofacial treatments by contacting our Mount Kisco or White Plains, NY practice and scheduling a skin examination with Dr. Farella. With IPL photofacial treatments at Farella MD Spa and Wellness Center, we can go deep within the layers of your skin to help create a youthful glow and a healthy complexion.
